District IV Interim (The Hills Are Alive in 2005)

District IV Convention (Jun 29-Jul 2, 2000)
Four couples (Robert's, Leduc's, Thorpe's and Pollhammer's) attended District IV Convention at Camp Vancouver, WA with "Saving Private Gyro" as a theme. It was an event to remember and started Thursday night for an evening of fellowship and welcome gathering at the American Legion. There were over 170 out-of-towners registered including a small group from Oakland, CA,  The York-Brimacombe Golf Championship kicked of at 0700 and required Desert Warfare Training (if you were forced to battle through sand traps) and Jungle Survival Training (if you strayed into dense undergrowth).  Meanwhile the ladies went for a luxurious, elegant home tour.

Friday evening or D-night (as opposed to D-Day) was held at the Vancouver Air Museum with most gyros in military uniforms or costumes. Our entire Canadian delegation all dressed as sailors. (Thanks to Jean Robert's idea and work). It was a Battlefield Night of Entertainment to Remember and included the installation of the Vancouver USA Gyro Club.
Passed at the General Meeting July 1: York-Brimacombe Golf Tournament now has a permanent home at Dekota Creek Gold & Country in Custer, WA (near Blaine). "Same Time - Same Place" @ noon the 3rd Saturday of each August, starting in 2001.

Saturday evening saw the installation of District IV officers by 2nd VP Larry Braun. Jim Roberts now is Past District Governor, Alban Leduc: Lieutenant Governor, Steve Anderson: Governor, Dan King: District Treasurer and Gerry Wolf: District Secretary. We danced the night away to a fabulous band.
